Angling Trust Covid Update – 23 March 2021
The Angling Trust has been doing great work lobbing for the relaxation of COVID restrictions for anglers, recognising the crucial role fishing plays in physical and mental well-being, and has just published new COVID guidance.
Throughout lockdown, fishing has been permitted as part of an individual’s exercise regime but this has only been possible with a maximum of one other person and on a strictly local basis.
We welcome the news that after March 29th, fishing will remain permitted as outdoor recreation or exercise for up to 6 people, or in a larger group if everyone present is from the same two households. We also welcome the news that the statutory stay at home restriction will be lifted which allow travel to fish. We note the guidance to avoid travelling further than is reasonably necessary to take part in, or during, their activity.
